Republic...

Happy Republic Day !
It's 69th republic day which the whole India is going to celebrate in next 21 minutes, as I am writing this at 11:39 p.m. on 25th of Jan. Till the moment I will complete it, the Republic Day must have been started.

It is going to be my 21st republic day celebration...

Funn...!

That was the day, 68 years ago, when India got its own rule book.

At school times, republic day used to be like neat and clean school uniform, well ironed. A Tiranga batch on it. A flag in hand.

At higher standards, when I joined RSP i.e. Road Safety Petrol, we had our parade on this day. This parade was one of the things for which I waited eagerly, every year. Now everytime watching the republic day parade at Rajpath reminds me of my school time memories of parade.

Also, we used to get our sport events prizes on republic day. So that was a double celebration for all of us. Sometimes we had cultural performances at school on this day. But the main attraction was our "parade".

We also used to have a long walk.

"Prabhat Feri"

It used to be like the whole school  had a walk through the town. We used to make pairs as per each class and then make a long line and walk through the town, in the morning, around at 8:30, all the people used to come out to see us.

We used to shout the slogans,

Vande Matram !

Bharat Mata kiiii Jay !

Ek don teen chaar...
K E S chi mule hushar ...

And so on...

Finally we came return to school , some students used to go home in between the walk. Fun part.

And lastly the celebration used to end with a sweet candy. And for that candy also, we had to wait in a long line. The candy distribution was used to classwise.

Yoo it's 12:02, the republic day begins...

Happy Republic Day !

All the school time memories are priceless.

At the school, it used to be a celebration of one of national festival day. As I grew up, i understood the importance of being republic.
Many important things had happened on this day.
On first republic day parade in 1955, a Christian song "Abide with Me" was played which was Gandhiji's favourite song.
The first Republic Day Parade was held in the year 1955.
This year it is going to be the 63rd Republic Day Parade.

Let's enjoy the moment at which India became truely free!
