The broken plate...
Long back before this corona mess happened.
We used to go to restaurants, cafes; street food was a every day thing.
One Sunday, we were at a restaurant as usual. Me and my friend. As it was a Sunday evening, we had to wait a little bit for the table, 10-15 minutes. Rush hours, you know. We got the table.
Order time.
We ordered. After 5-10 minutes, waiter came with both hands occupied - two black plates in one hand, spoons and forks in it; the bowl in another plate in the other hand. These days restaurants are using different different variety of plates, earlier it used to be the steel plates.
Serving time.
So the waiter put the plates on the table. One for my friend and one for me. He was about to serve the dish but I pointed out that the dish in front of me is little broken in the corner, very little.
"Can you please change it", I requested.
My friend also emphasized the same. So the waiter replaced my plate with the one on which he brought the bowl. My problem was solved.
Later on I realised, if I had those beautiful black plates at my home in my dinner set, and slightly broken on a corner, I would not have discarded it from the set. I would have used it as much as I can. But at the restaurant, I refused.
Why?
Just because I pay at the restaurant I don't want a slightly broken plate on my table. And on the other side, I think that I am a responsible human being, saving resources, using them wisely. But at the restaurant, I am not ok with a little broken plate.
Unintentionally I made a mistake that day.
If customers like me keep complaining continuously for such tiny reasons, the owner may need to change the cutlery, widely speaking - resources, which is usable. Waste of resources because of me/ us.
The time is to act.
